honky tonk

Having just got back from a week long trip to the beach was like getting punched in the face with reality. What a crappy welcome home. Seriously. So I decided to look through the pictures from the trip – more of which i will be posting here I am sure. One of my favorite nights was when we went out to a restaurant on the ocean – and when I say ON THE OCEAN, I mean…literally…on the ocean. It wasn’t spectacular or fancy. It was just what I needed – no pretension (which I normally LOVE). No elegance. It just was what it was. Quaint. Easy…and a little Honky Tonk.

But the putt putt and arcade competition that ensued after with me and 3 boys (did I mention I WON putt putt – by 5 strokes! I have mad putt putt skills!) – now THAT was a treat. This place was straight out of 1980…The games. The setting. The “decor.” I loved every minute of it. And the skee ball…ohhhhhhh the skee ball! If you know me well, you know that I love skee ball. It is one of my many passions. But this place made it special. The broken machines and dingy atmosphere only added to it all.

I think I have a little honky tonk in my soul. And I am proud of it!
